Now, to be fair, I DID hear a few horror stories about the lips bending and the magazines damaging the mag well (How I have no idea), but I've never had a problem with them - and I probably killed the springs by now (always 20 rounds. Hurts like hell getting them all in, but it's worth chewing through at some 400 yards with dead on percision without having to pause for a reload).

I'll see if I can find a link or somethin' for ya - if you have a G3 they work in them, and some nut job told me they also work in the British made FAL rifle (L3 I think it's called? The beautiful weapon they replaced with that piece of junk L85).
I don't have a G3.
I get 20rd unused Steyer manufactured FAL metric magazines from $5-8 each. For me that's a steal - especially considering that good AR mags cost 2-3 times that much ... just for a lousy .223!

What a terrific rifle to shoot. Brutal for a beginner but hats off if you enjoyed it. If you can shoot that - most rifles will be much easier. That's like learning to drink with hard liquor.

Did you use iron sights?

My friend shoots his out to 1000 yards - very impressive.

Wow, those look incredibly like daisys. :P (Pellet Gun). I noticed you arent waering any ear or eye protection like many ranges require when using guns.

They aint Daisys (Notice the bolt). And not all ranges require it - actually, I don't know of any that do. You sign a waiver before hand saying that anything that goes on is NOT the responsability of the range. Makes sense: there are a LOT of things that could go wrong at a range. Although you SHOULD wear ear protection (eye protection is only going to help you with casings. No glass is going to save you from even a 9x19), a .22 isn't loud at all.

Yeah a .22 doesn't make enough noise in my opinion to warrant ear protection. But I'd wear ear protection at any range I got to, I don't like the idea of being at a pistol range and have the guy next to me take out his .357 without me having some sort of ear protection.

Oh you'd HATE the North Attleboro range :3 It's under it's own legislation, so you can use whatever they have (which ranges from M60s to some early HK designs). We also get a lot of class 3 people down here showin' off their stuff. If you didn't wear any ear plugs or head cones, you'd be a deaf man. I still remember the 3 C Beta Drum .223 shoot off *Shiver*... 300 rounds, downrange...

I haven't shot .22 since I was a kid but, if I were instructing, I'd require both eyes and ears regardless of caliber. I just think good habits are important to reinforce. And, as harmless as a .22 "pop" sounds, repeated exposure to transient noise will cause high frequency hearing loss over a long period of time. By the time you notice your hearing loss it's too late.

Yeah, that's true - woudln't effect me too much, though. I'm already legally deaf from bass guitar on stage/headphones (try not to use 'em too much kiddos)/guns so it really doesn't matter to me. I guess that's what seperates the different types of marksmen... The ones who are careful no matter the situation, and the ones who try not to wear the "old people" lookin' glasses.

I have a natural hearing deficiancy, I don't pick up certain tones at all. Luckily,it really doesn't hinder me all too much, I just have to make an effort to listen to people if I want to hear what they are saying. Otherwise, I can tune out and be carefree and happy.

Anyways, Xue makes a good point about the reinforcement of good habbits. I definately practice that in many aspects. And especially when doing any sort of shooting sport. Whether it be shooting my pellet gun (a sweet .177 RWS spring rifle that shoots at somewhere approaching 1000 fps), playing paintball or whatever. Definately good to be safe and cautious at all times. 'Sides, it makes the old people happier when they know there is a level of safety and control involved.

Wow I have hearing deficentcies too. I was around 70% deaf when I was about 5, but I had some operation to help, but I still put the speaker real close to my head when I'm watching T.V.

It was actually funny when I found out my hearing deficiancy. It was at one of those school administered hearing and eye tests. Apparently, the tones the lady was putting on in the headphones were so loud that people around me could hear it and I couldn't with the headphones on. Must've been one of those tones I can't pick up on.
